I had seen many beginners in the gym doing all the wrong exercises and with such poor form. As a beginner there are a few basics you will need to know before you dive into the gym. After all, results is what we are all after, right?
One of the biggest mistakes beginners make is not doing enough research before hitting the gym. This is the reason why they do not see any results. Give yourself a pat on your back! You are ahead of them just by reading this. You often see and hear people lose motivation to go to the gym. This is because those people are not seeing the results they are after. When a person fails to see results it can lead to serious frustration and can also lead to losing to self-confidence.
To be ahead of the game, you need to learn the most effective and efficient methods to build muscle, burn fat and leaning towards a healthy lifestyle is essential in terms of your nutrition.
As a beginner bodybuilder you should prioritise in learning as much about your body and about bodybuilding possible. Knowing what you are doing is especially important to achieve faster results and to have that body which you have always dreamt off. A good tip for getting started is to train your largest muscle groups first before focusing on specific areas you want to tone or shape. Do not just go down to the gym doing a thousand sit ups hoping to get a washboard six pack abs. I can tell you now that it will never happen. There are many workout programs on the internet which I suggest you could download to start with. Do not forget that stretching and doing a proper warm up with help you be more flexible and avoid injury.
Dieting is one of the biggest factors to generating more muscle development. I don't know if you have heard this before, but what you do outside of the gym is what really matter. In other words, having a proper nutritional diet is what that is really going to help you build muscle. You should also educate yourself about nutrition and understanding the difference between healthy and unhealthy fats and carbs. You could probably see a nutritionist to help you identify your daily nutrition intake.
You have to always keep in a hydrated state. Drinking at least 3 litres of water a day is very important to stay hydrated and to flush out all the toxins in your body. Leading towards a healthy lifestyle and giving up smoking and alcohol would maximise all your efforts significantly.
Finally, do not feel shy or embarrassed in the gym to ask advice from a personal trainer. Remember, we all started just like you at once upon a time. Learning how to use machines and performing exercises with a proper form will help you optimize your efforts. If you see a professional bodybuilder at your gym, speak to him and ask how he achieved that body. Follow your training program closely. One of the easiest way to know if you are putting on muscle is to keep a training log. If you find yourself getting stronger each week, you know you are on the right track.
If you continue to eat, train and live a healthy lifestyle, you will have the lean body you desire in no time.
